GARDEN of the MONTH:
This is the twelfth in the series of photos of North
American gardens. This month's garden is the Japanese Tea Garden at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco
(http://www.jgarden.org/gardens.asp?ID=268),
the venerable garden in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

JGARDEN NEWS
JGarden Incorporates as Non-Profit - We made a big leap at the end of last year
and decided to incorporate the JGarden project into a non-profit organization. This is an important
step for the database and the web site as it will allow us to potentially apply for grants and
function as a 501(c)3 charitable organization. This shouldn't mean any changes in the near term
but we hope that over the long term, this will be a more vibrant project, with more choices, more timely
updates and better information.
Hands-on Japanese Garden Class - Beginning
February 2, 2003, Mike Yamakami
will begin offering a Japanese garden construction and maintenance
class in Marietta, Georgia. The class will cover basic pruning,
bamboo fence construction, stone placement, knots, tree transplanting
and much more. The class will meet the first Sunday of each month
beginning on February 2 at 9am. For more information see
http://www.jgarden.org/features.asp?ID=60.
New Image Contributions - We've received new imagery contributions from
Jim Phillips (Carleton College,
James Irvine Garden,
Kubota Gardens),
Phoenix, and
Portland).
Thanks to Jim for his continued contributions. JGarden now has more than
1800 images of 90+ gardens from around the world. You can see them all at the
Garden Gallery.
NEW GARDENS at JGarden:
The following gardens have been added or significantly updated in the past month.
These are just the gardens, though.
