Last Updated: 5/20/2000
This CD-ROM on Japanese gardens features Seiwa-en, the largest Japanese garden in North America located at the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis, Missouri. You can take a detailed step-by-step tour of all areas of this 'wet strolling garden' which includes 2 waterfalls, a teahouse, sitting arbor, dry gardens, and a drum, zigzag and flat bridge all on on a 4-1/2 acre lake with 3 islands. Detailed information can be accessed on all aspects of Japanese gardens through an extensive index. 180° viewpoints are available at 11 different locations, animations, and natural and cultural sounds all combine to enhance the experience of the garden.
Great care has been taken in designing this CD-ROM to allow you to have the sense of being in the garden while still having access to resources that can expand that experience. The graphics have been prepared to echo the aesthetics learned from the study of the Japanese garden.
The Seiwa-en CD-ROM is available for both Mac & Windows.
