ZEN Associates was founded in 1980 by Shinichiro Abe, who earned a Master's in Landscape Architecture from Harvard University and a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture from Tokyo University. Prior to his arrival in the United States, Mr. Abe served as an apprentice, restoring and reconstructing prominent temple gardens in Kyoto and throughout Japan.
